a great time had by all

Saturday was our second annual children's storytelling event and it was an excellent turnout. All three storytelling times were filled with excited children who were thrilled to be part of April's artistry! Fortunately, we had excellent weather which made for fun times with friends both new and old. We are so thankful for the connection we have with our clients - our whole staff had so much fun chatting and playing with all of the kids.

Sugarfoot did an amazing job providing yummy food, and Yukie was kind enough to decorate our space with her beautiful floral arragements:

Lou, from LouLou's Whimsicals, provided face painting for all the children outside of Sweetheart Boutique:

I think everyone had an excellent time!

the best clients

I always say I have the best clients ever, and I really truly mean it! They are kind and generous and I am so fortunate to have such a great relationship with them.

This was waiting for me on my desk amongst a pile of bills and no-so-fun stuff upon return from WPPI from a bride I cannot wait to photograph this June. The cutest ipod cover possibly created paired with a beautiful card:

also don't forget that our second annual children's storytelling event will take place tomorrow. Sophie, who owns Sweetheart boutique, has several different kids crafts planned at her shop and there might even be some fun with chalk out front on Delaware Avenue. We have over 60 families coming and we are looking forward to seeing you all!

big blues

I am posting some favorites from a session I had last week with a fantastic little baby (and also because I know that mom is checking the blog every day!). I love working with this age, they can sit and wiggle but can't get quite run away yet and bolt out of the studio room!

Such a happy little girl with beautiful big blue eyes:

mmmm... feet.

Spring Cleaning

And everybody is participating... even our rescue mix, Art.

Every time I get Art groomed I think he looks like a different pooch. I would love to hear what other dog owners think!

Also note that Art has his own dogbook page on facebook in case you would like to say hello!

Mason

I apologize for the little blog hiatus last week - I attended one of the largest conventions available for wedding and portrait photographers called WPPI, held in Las Vegas. It was so fun to see all of my photographer friends from around the world and become updated on what is new and exciting in the industry!

On the plane ride back I was thinking about how one of my very favorite aspects to being a portrait photographer is the opportunity to watch children grow and document moments at each stage of their life. It's an incredible privilege to be part of the families we photograph in such a meaningful way.

For example, right before I left I photographed a six-month session for a client who I have seen three times in the last year. Mason's parents chose some of the very best stages to document from maternity:

to newborn (photographed here at three days old)

and now at six months!

Mason's dog, Lucy is a wonderfully gentle, very large goldendoodle

and finally... I laughed for a good five minutes when I first viewed this photo. I made everyone in the studio come into my office and humor me by looking at it:

I hope it brightens your day as much as it did mine!

Image X Workshop

Attention all photographers! This fall I am going to be teaching at a very cool workshop called Image X: a one of a kind photo workshop experience with a group of the world’s leading wedding and portrait photographers set in the historic city of New Orleans. The workshop is a great new concept where a group of photographers get together over a period of two days to offer one-day classes.

So you can choose from myself and anyone from the following list:

Boutwell Studio
Jessica Claire
John Michael Cooper
Gene Higa
Joe Photo
Victor Sizemore
Cherie Steinberg
Jeff & Julia Woods
Lena Hyde
Tamara Lackey
Audrey Woulard

to learn from over a period of two days. There will be very cool events going on in between the classes so you can meet different people and instructors.

The dates are Oct 6th – 8th 2008 and for more details and to sign up, visit the Image X workshop site!

happy birthday

How cute is this little guy? I had such a great time celebrating his very first birthday outside the Philadelphia area yesterday with him and his parents. The late afternoon light in one of their upstairs bedrooms was absolutely perfect for playing...

and of course... eating cake!

Kim + Roberto: Brides Philadelphia

I was so glad when I heard that Kim and Roberto's wedding was chosen to be featured in Modern Bride Philadelphia magazine. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, Kim and Roberto's invitations, place-card holders, and table numbers were amongst the most amazing I have ever seen (and they made each one themselves!). Kim and Roberto have a fantastic eye for design which is well deserving of such a beautiful editorial spread.
