look alike

This adorable little drawing was sent to me by Holly at teardropweddings.com, a boutique letterpressed invitation company, along with a sweet note about inspiration. I love that she has me depicted as a yogi - how did she know it was my other passion?

Marie + Quinn: 06.27.09

Marie and Quinn's stunning wedding - designed and executed by Traci Romano Events - took place in southern Connecticut. I enjoyed working with this lovely couple, and of course, photographing any wedding where there are so many fantastic details is always a pleasure!

As you can see, Traci's design has that decidedly "Coastal Connecticut" feel - lots of beautiful blues popping against the light, airy backdrop of white.

I really wanted to highlight the simple elegance that can come from attention to detail. Traci's genius design included some elements that I thought could provide inspiration to brides to be. Some of my favorites: her juxtaposition of the rustic honey wood of the bi-level table against the delicate rice paper paraso (left), and how the addition of some French toile accents elevated the clean look of an all-white table to a new level of sophistication (right).

Color was such a dramatic element of this wedding. Isn't there something really delcious about those vibrant reds and yellows against the twhite and taupe of the escort card display?

I've always believed that lighting elements are a really easy, relatively inexpensive way to transform a space.

Finally, one of my favorite shots of the day. It was a difficult photo to capture from a technical standpoint; a tripod is definitely required! And while I don't typically pose couples, in this case I did ask them if they would mind standing there, just the two of them, so I could capture what I knew would be a very personal moment and a beautiful, lasting image of their happy event.

Thanks, Marie and Quinn, for inviting me to be a part of this lovely day!

beach

Our Delaware beach sessions from a few weeks ago are starting to roll in and they are some of my favorite images from the summer. I photographed this fun duo all the way from Arizona last year and this time we decided to take it to the beaches.

I love this photo, and how much she looks like her gorgeous family here:

My favorite: a laugh so full it reminds you of childhood....

to be continued

As an added continuation from my last post, I enjoyed photographing those girls so much that I decided to teach myself how to oil paint over a photograph. I am actually trained as an oil painter, while my photography is self-taught. So this really felt like home to me.

modern deco + nature = love

To me there is nothing better that seeing little girls being happy in their summer dresses amongst nature. Oh yes, and a Philippe Starck ghost chair for some added fun.

country living

This little girl loved showing me around all the fun things to do at her country home - her mom got a beautiful wall portrait with a hand-painted frame to perfectly match her decor. I can't wait to see it all come together!

favorite quote of the moment

Heard at Ignite Wilmington, from artist Jeff Schaller:

Somebody once said about my paintings, “I could of done that.”

I replied, “But you didn’t and I did. Now you can’t because I did and that would be copying.”

Love it!

Brooklyn Baby

I can't believe it has been two years since this little one's parents were married in Philadelphia. Something about a peaceful baby in contrast with a bustling city makes me filled with joy.
